Petrol prices in the UK are now at their highest ever level.
According to monitors, Experian Capital, the average price of a litre of petrol is now 121.76p.
The current diesel price is 125.73p, which is 8p off the record.
The increase in VAT is expected to add a further 2.5p to the price of a litre of petrol in January with extra fuel duties adding 1p.
