Another council announces job cuts

Trafford Council in Greater Manchester has become the latest local authority to announce job losses.

Around 150 jobs are to be cut as part of Trafford's plan to save £60m. over the next four years.

It is not yet clear whether or not compulsory redundancies will be involved.

The plans have been strongly criticised by Paul McDermott of the trade union, Unison, who is particularly angry at the decision to make the announcement so close to Christmas.
