Scottish salmon industry contributes £500m. to UK economy
The Scottish salmon industry now contributes £500m. to the UK economy, according to figures announced today by the Scottish Salmon Producers Association.
During this year 234 new jobs have been created in the sector and there has been close to £30m. invested in capital development. A further £296m. has been spent on suppliers and services related to Scottish salmon production.
Exports of Scottish salmon have grown 500% over the last 20 years.
