US construction spending during April was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $820.7bn, 0.3% above the revised March estimate of $818.1bn.
The US Department of Commerce said the April figure is 6.8% above the April 2011 estimate of $768.2bn.
During the first 4 months of this year, construction spending amounted to $238.5bn, 7.3% above the $222.2 billion for the corresponding period in 2011.
